Sayre Posey graduated from UMBC in 2016 with a BA in History and Education Certificate. She was a member of the Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program and Honors College. While at UMBC, Sayre developed a passion for eliminating educational inequalities in low-income communities and spent much of her time volunteering in Baltimore schools with The Choice Program, Refugee Youth Project, and College Gardens Youth Program. After serving as the Service-Learning Intern for The Shriver Center, she completed a year-long student teaching experience with an 8th grade U.S. History class at Patapsco Middle School. Sayre also worked for Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth and played violin in the UMBC Symphony Orchestra. She now teaches 9th grade U.S. History and Government at Edmondson-Westside High School in Baltimore City Public Schools.
